The ejector-based heat pump using natural refrigerant R290

The main aim of this project is to develop state-of-the-art heat pump system equipped with an efficient two-phase ejector using natural refrigeration R290 (propane) for domestic application. The test rig located on SUT LCPW laboratory is designed and manufactured for cooling capacity of 10 kW and the evaporator operating conditions are defined typical for air-source heat pump. The two-phase ejector is designed using ejectorPL CFD tool for performance maximisation. According to the theoretical system analysis, the proposed R290 ejector-based cycle improved COP up to 15% when compared to the standard R290 direct expansion heat pump.
